About Franklin County Fun Online Magazine:

Franklin County Fun is just as the name implies a fun representation and reporting of anything and everything fun that happens here in Franklin County.  Our photo galleries are a photo journal that depicts the people of Franklin County enjoying the relaxed and fun lifestyle that Franklin County is known for. Whether it be one of the many festivals that take place each year or some other event or fundraiser, chances are you will find one of our staff roaming the crowd camera in hand, capturing the event as well as the people having fun and living life.

History:

Back in 2003, three friends who started a web development company that was getting a bit of a slow start were kicking around ideas of how to get their name out there and attract business. One of the groups members, Jessie Hall, brought up the idea about putting together a community website.

Well the other two members half heartedly agreed to give it a shot. Jessie began the process of putting together the first design and as the other two began to see it take shape they became more and more excited about the endeavor.  The three began rapidly bouncing ideas back and forth trying to get just the right angle that would make the site work. Then the idea for going to events and creating a photo gallery for every event that they attended was mentioned, bells and whistles went off in the group's heads and almost at the same time they all said “that’s it, that’s the format”.

The site was launched in February, 2004, and the first event that the group covered was the First Thursdays Concert series that the Community Partnership for Revitalization put on at the Farmers market in Downtown Rocky Mount. At first we must have looked crazy going around snapping photos of everyone but we kept showing up everywhere that something fun was happening and soon we became a fixture of sorts at events.

Now, after several years and thousands of photographs, Franklin County Fun has evolved into the number one repository for event information and coverage in Franklin County. This little community website that once struggled to get more than 500 page views per month back in that first year, now serves up nearly 2 million page views per year.
