Franklin County Historical Society will hold it's annual Ghost and more tour in Rocky Mount, Va. Oct. 18 and 25.
Spirits are among us in Rocky Mount – and you can “meet” some of them on Saturday, Oct. 18 or 25. Ride a vintage bus through the town visiting some 20 scenes where ghosts have been sighted or murderous activity has taken place.
The 6th annual “Ghosts & More” bus tour will feature actors and interpreters telling tales – all true or at least as we heard ‘em. More than 60 people make the stories come to life. A guide sets up the scenes and tells “the rest of the story” as you travel.
Hear about the bride who tried to murder her husband on their wedding night – meet the librarian who, despite her retirement and eventual death, has never been able to leave the library – hear stories of ghostly footsteps and those who continue to make them long after they've left the earth – and much more.
Witness a “hanging” on the courthouse lawn and hear the convicted man's story and see the likeness of a 1800s gentleman who spends time in his old home, making his presence known in various ways. There's a woman who leaves her scent of antique perfume and other clues as she travels the grounds where she once walked in life.
Following the tour, souvenir booklets are offered for sale with vintage photo reproductions and the entire tour scri pt.
The annual tour is sponsored by Franklin County Historical Society. Transportation provided by Commonwealth Coach & Trolley Museum. Tickets are available at the History Museum – 460 S. Main St., Rocky Mount. (540) 483-1890. Check our website www.franklincountyvirginiahistoricalsoc.org.
