The Franklin County Historical Society will hold a fundraising event Saturday Aug.23 at the “Flora Morris House on South Main Street. The event has been dubbed “Pickn on the porch” and will consist of musical performances by Singer/songwriter Henry Wong, who is a faculty fellow at the University of North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, will perform on guitar and mandolin.

This is a fundraiser for Franklin County Historical Society’s renovation project at the circa 1925 house. Morris donated her home to the historical society with the stipulation that it be used for a history museum and related facilities.

The donation of the Morris home will give the Historical Society its first permanent location for the history museum and research library. The 80-year-old structure is to be renovated with each room being named for each of the areas or townships that made up Franklin County throughout the years.

The Historical Society will be seeking sponsors for each room of the house. The sponsorships will aid the organization in its renovation project. The following sponsorship opportunities are available.
