The annual Lord's Acre Sale was held at Franklin County High School.
In October, if we take a moment to pause, we will recognize a new season is definitely in progress. Hopefully, most of the changes are welcome as we are usually starting to tire of the heat and are ready to pull out our sweaters...even if we ARE NOT quite ready to turn up the thermostat!
Some of the more obvious changes of course are that the leaves are turning from soft greens to a myriad of colors that go from red to gold before they begin to dance and flutter on the wind until they make a colorful carpet on our lawns... We find that the air is just a little cooler and we want to pull on a sweater... Hot coffee and hot cocoa become a more appealing choice than ice cold lemonade... and in Franklin County it is a certain sign that fall has returned when the day of the Lord’s Acre Sale arrives!
The Lord’s Acre Sale was held Saturday October 18th at the Franklin County High School Parking lot. The Lord’s Acre Sale began in 1964 as a way to help area churches earn money to fund projects each year. Held on the third Saturday of October, the event that began with only a handful of churches, soon grew into a major annual event for Franklin County that left families scrambling to find a parking spot for the opportunity to see their friends and neighbors while they checked out the amazing array of crafts and foods available!
In more recent years participation from congregations has dwindled, but the Lord’s Acre Sale remains an annual tradition for many families in Franklin County. The opportunity to grab a sweater and enjoy the treats and company of our friends and neighbors is always something to look forward to. If you missed it this year...check it out next year!
